REPORT ON BOARD OF PHILOSOPHY Interl 8 / 7 / 10

met today (8/7/10) Board of Interloire of Philosophy to rate the academic program and the assignment of teaching loads. Upon the recommendation of the Dean, the President of the Degree, Constantine Edwards, announced that the allocation of teaching loads has been postponed to September and that the academic year could start late.
As for the poster of the studies, consistent with the positions taken on the protest of the researchers who have declared their unwillingness to cover teaching duties and noted the solidarity demonstrated by the entire faculty to mobilize them with the promise to ' unanimously by the entire Board of Faculty (full and associate included) not to cover the lessons left vacant by the researchers, I abstained from the approval of that poster that comes with the conviction that it can not be guaranteed under the mobilization of researchers and the commitment made by all Faculty in their solidarity. Abstained all researchers present voted in favor of all the remaining part of the Council, the representative of students including Objective.
The President has proposed a change in the curriculum as it was dismissed by the committee last fall that he had worked to develop, moving the lessons of history and language and computer labs so that the freshmen next year will find the workshops the first year and the lessons of history in the second and third. The decision to move the laboratory to the third year was that we strongly wanted to lighten the workload of students in the third year so that there was a greater availability of time to devote to the dissertation. On this point, I voted against, prof. Grandier abstained and all council voted in favor (representative of Objective students included).
